TEOMAN MADRA

Teoman Madra (1931, Istanbul) is one of the first Turkish artists who used digital technology for creating artworks. He creates using video and multimedia, creates sound art installations and visual installation with new technology.

He started creating experimental photograms in 1965. Some of his early works are akin to Fluxus, and over the years, he began creating various multimedia performances. Madra’s first digital works were done on the Amiga computer and some video artworks on PC after 1998. He also makes abstract photography. Music, especially jazz improvisations and contemporary music, is an essential part of his work and performances. In his works, Madra searches for new aesthetic findings and art levels.
